The means God uses to slow down this gradual descent into chaos is the Holy Spirit in the hearts of all true believers who follow Jesus Christ. Every act of love and compassion holds back hate. Every act of forgiveness holds back the world’s thirst for revenge. Every ‘no’ that is said in the face of temptation is a ‘yes’ to the life of God on this planet. Every prayer and act of worship to the Creator ushers in his earthly kingdom. Every faithful martyr declares the glory of heaven and the worthiness of Christ. Lord, as I pray ‘Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven,’ inspire me to put those words into action through deeds of love, compassion, and service that help bring your heavenly kingdom to earth, and slow the descent into chaos.
